Charles Junior Galbreath, 91, of Hanna and Osceola, Indiana passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022. “Chuck” or “Charlie”, as he was known was born May 26, 1930 to Charles & Bertha Galbreath and was a lifelong area resident. Charlie met Lois Hunsley of Hanna, IN and they were married on June 30, 1951, until the time of her passing on March 23, 1998. Their daughter, Mary Lou (Galbreath) Styles passed away in September of 2019. Their son, Johnny Galbreath survives along with grandson, Jeff Styles, and great-grandson, Orion Styles both of Las Vegas, NV, brother, Leon Galbreath of Buchanan, MI, and sister, Darlene (Galbreath) Eichstaedt of Valparaiso. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Ken, Virgil & Harold, and sisters, Ruth, Maxine, Alice & Indabelle.

Charlie grew up farming and left to become a machinist at Northern Indiana Brass Co. (NIBCO) in Elkhart where he served for 30 years until retirement. He served proudly with the U.S. Army during the 1950’s, is a member of Hanna United Methodist Church, is a 33rd degree Mason and member of the Masonic Temple of Mishawaka, and Scottish Rite. Charlie’s passion/hobby was being a lifelong amateur (HAM) radio operator “AE9T”. He spent many hours/days contacting other HAMS around the world and helping with St. Joe & Elkhart County’s “Skywarn”.

During his final months he was provided with absolute care and compassion at Golden Heart & Home by Emily Brown & caregivers, and we’re so thankful for each of them.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 25th from 12:30 -2:00 pm at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, 309 N. Main St., Wanatah, IN with funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm, Rev. Jim Denton officiating and burial to follow at Hanna Cemetery. Masks are strongly encouraged for attendees.
