Linda K. Gerdom

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  2 Timothy 4:7

She was a little lady who left a big footprint on the hearts and lives of those who knew her.  In the early hours of the morning on Monday May 23, 2022 Linda K. (nee Kraft) Gerdom transitioned from the pain and suffering of this life to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and eternal life. She was born December 13,1950 to Raymond and Mary (nee Bogdanich) Kraft of Valparaiso who along with numerous aunts and uncles proceeded her in death.
Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband and partner of 22 years, Garry B. Gerdom; her loving sister Donna (Randy) Kuehl: nieces Kathy (Jeff) Wardell all of Valparaiso; Kimberly (Chris) Morehead of Indianapolis; Aunt Dorothy Idzior of Chesterton: Uncle Don Lipke of Hobart; cousins Martin (Cyndee) Lipke of Greenville; Carey (Lisa) Lipke of Hobart; Carol (James) Needham of Crown Point; Jan (Mike) Fitterling of Culver; James (Jane) Shore of Portage; step daughter Gaelyn (Adam) Mlynarcik of Valparaiso; step son Graeme Gerdom (April) and daughters Amelia and Adeline of Chesterton;   “adopted “ daughter Dawn Thomason (Keith) of Valparaiso; and special friend Rose (Charlie) Veteto of Cedar Lake.
One of life’s greatest gifts for Linda was the company of her great niece Lauren and her grandsons Owen, Gabriel, Grayson, and Sammy to whom she was simply Buscie. These special moments were near and dear to her heart and were shared with anyone who would listen.  Linda took great delight in going home with a unique creation from her 2nd cousin’s Jay and Ashley, James, or Ronald annual Christmas homemade gift exchange. She couldn’t wait to get the latest gift home and on display.
Linda graduated from Andrean High School in 1968 and went on to continue her education at Indiana University where she earned her bachelors, masters and MBA degrees which allowed her to pursue her life long career in human resource management. She worked at Opportunity Enterprises, Geminus Corporation, the city of Valparaiso and completed her career at Anchor Home Health retiring in 2016.  Linda was a friend, confidant, and colleague to those who entered her orbit. She loved a heated discussion of current events, sharing a good recipe or bible verse, the latest mini-series, or the latest book she read. Her advice and insights were sought by many as was her German chocolate cake.  Linda’s mantra was God, family, friends, and food and at every opportunity she sought to combine them in her daily routine especially enjoying a morning prayer with her sister.
Linda’s final wishes were for her cremation and a family celebration of life luncheon in remembrance. Her sister Donna is organizing an English garden to be constructed in her honor to which donations may be made.  Linda’s passing has left a void in this world, but the Heavenly kingdom has gained a joyous saint.
