Phyllis A. Grutz, 76, of Valparaiso, IN died peacefully at home on June 11th, 2022. She was born on November 25th, 1945 in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Marie Arns. Phyllis owned American Speedy Printing Center for 16 years. After being self-employed, she worked for Reliable Transportation 12 years before finally retiring in 2021.  On September 22nd, 1972 Phyllis married David C. Grutz in Dubuque, Iowa, who preceded her in death on February 11th, 1999. They resided in Dubuque until moving to Valparaiso in 1978. They had two children Krystal Termini of Valparaiso, IN and April Hamlin of LaPorte, IN.
Phyllis is survived by her two daughters, Krystal (Rick) Termini and their children; Alex, Ashlyn and Ryla. April (Joe) Hamlin and their children; Joey, Samantha, Juliet and Larry. Her brother Carl (Karen) Arns of Shell Rock, IA and nephews Shane (Laura) Arns of Ridgecrest, CA and Aaron (Emily) Arns of Fort Collins, CO and their children; Elsie and Charli.  Phyllis was known for her many hobbies and talents. She always had a project going on her knitting needles or with her crochet hooks. She enjoyed working on many quilts, elaborate Halloween costumes and doll clothes. When she wasn’t in her sewing room, you could find her working in her yard, as she also had a love for plants and flowers.
She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor up to the time of her passing.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 am – 1 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm.
