Richard S. Gaczkowski, 86, of Valparaiso passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. He was born in Gary on August 17, 1935 to Stanley & Agnes (Sak) Gaczkowski, graduated from Tolleston High School in Gary, served in the US Army, and retired from a long career with the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P). A member of Wheeler United Methodist Church, Richard enjoyed friends & family, working crossword puzzles, playing his electronic poker game, listening to country music, and very much loved kidding around.
Richard is survived by his beloved sister, Bonnie (Mike) Paulsin; his six children, Richard A. (Paula), Robert (Danielle), Kim Marschak, Kevin (Lori), Karolyn (Phil Lulinski) Gaczkowski, and Roger; grandchildren, Philip, Cody, Danille, Tristan, and Alisa; nephew, Michael P. Paulsin; nieces, Polly (Paulsin) Arnoldus, and Sandy (Paulsin) Watson; and other beloved family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Allan Marschak, Jr.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory, a Memorial Service will be planned for a later date.
