Susan “Sue” Zaharias, 57 of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Thursday, May 5, 2022. She was born November 20, 1964 in Chicago Heights, IL to Dale Cole and Cindy (Edwards) Guilliam, who survive. Sue graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1983. She attended Rolling Hills Vineyard Church in Valparaiso. Sue enjoyed cooking, gardening, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Chiefs, but the greatest joy in her life was her family, especially her beloved grandbabies. She will be remembered for her goofy personality, selfless nature, and compassionate heart. Sue was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and yia yia who will be dearly missed.
On November 19, 1987, Sue married George Zaharias, who survives, along with their daughters: Heather (Christopher) Mize of Valparaiso, Katherine (Corey) Abraham of Hebron, and Courtney (Kyle) Otte of Wanatah; grandchildren: Presley, Sadie, Peyton, Joshua, Blake, Clayton, and Joan; mother-in-law, Angeline Zaharias; 4 siblings; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Nick Zaharias; and grandmother, Flossie Small.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd, Valparaiso, with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 p.m., Pastor Mac McElhaney officiating.
